Penn State University has developed an excellent orientation for faculty teaching online. These lessons were created for PSU faculty teaching on Web CT (a commercially packaged software-product for online course delivery), but the principles apply to WSU Online as well. Rather than try to duplicate these efforts, we recommend that you go through these lessons to orient you to some of the issues involved in designing and teaching an online course. The lessons for this course have been divided into 2 groups:
If you are developing a course for WSU Online, you will probably want to go through both sets of lessons. If you are going to be teaching a course that is already developed, you can skip the authoring lessons. Use the contents button to view the table of contents for each set of lessons and jump from lesson to lesson. You can skip Lessons 1 and 8 in both the Authoring and Instructing lessons, because they contain information specific to Penn State. |
