Course Title: Detailed Scheduling and Planning MFET 4250

Course Objectives:

To give you the terminology, concepts and problem-solving skills required to be competent in the areas of Material and Capacity Requirements Planning and Master Scheduling. This course is NOT designed for entry-level or inexperienced students. The course provided is designed to review and expand upon known principles and practices in many types of manufacturing environments. This course will help prepare you for the APICS National Exam for certification in the Detailed Scheduling and Planning area of Production and Inventory Management. Consequently, the course approach is rigorous. You should make every attempt to understand the material presented in the certification review course. It is strongly recommended that you read at least some of the optional reading material listed under References above.
Specific objectives are listed in each session.

Teaching Strategy:
Concepts, problems relating to actual business conditions, case studies, and definitions will be presented. The student should make every attempt to understand this material. The student should discuss any difficulties in understanding this material with the Instructor, using e-mail. The instructor will respond to all e-mail inquiries by the end of the next business day. E-mail will generally not be returned on weekends or holidays.

Time Limits:
The student is expected to follow the session outlines and complete the course within 3 calendar months.

Course Grading:  You will be graded on session quizzes,  a final, assignments, and a paper based on the format shown below. Grades will be awarded based on the cumulative number of points you attain per Weber State University policy as shown below:

NOTE: Because of the difficult nature of this class, the instructor reserves the right to offer additional work when requested by a student. This additional work will allow you to increase your grade one step (i.e. from a C to a C+), when reviewed and accepted by the instructor. This work must be completed by the time you take the final.
